Couple Finances
Couple finances are important. Many studies say that money is the Number 1 thing that couples fight about. It really doesn’t seem to matter how much money you have or don’t have; conflict is more about the disagreement on how that money should be spent. Make sure you have general agreement on who is going to earn the money and how it’s going to be spent before getting financially involved with your partner. Ensure that you protect yourself financially before moving in with someone. When you start cohabitating there are certain laws that automatically apply, regardless of your intentions. Know the laws that apply in your community; know your rights and protect your money. Although you may be head–over-heels in love, when the divorce rate is over 50 percent in many places, it’s important to be practical and prudent! This is an example of a potentially uncomfortable conversation that you need to have with your partner. If he really loves he will want you to feel protected, even if both of you plan to be together until the end.
